PIPING & DRUMMING COMPETITIONS

presented by
2019 Red Stick Regional Pipe and Drum Competition
The Seventh Red Stick Regional will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the Louisiana Highland Games and Celtic Festival in Gonzales, Louisiana. The event will be held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, just a short drive south of Baton Rouge, LA. Formerly held at the First Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, we have only changed our venue, not our organizers!
We will be holding EUSPBA (Eastern United States Pipe Band Association) sanctioned solo piping events, as well as a sanctioned snare drumming competition. Bass and tenor events will also be held, and while unsanctioned, we will follow EUSPBA rules and regulations.
The competition will include all events for piping and drumming in Grades I through V, including non-sanctioned Grade V events for practice chanter, on pipes and on drum pad.
This year we are also including an unsanctioned “Mini Band” competition. The Mini Band requirements include a minimum of 3 pipers, 2 sides and 1 bass. Music requirements are 6-8 parts of March music, simple time, no time limit. For more details on all of these events, please see the registration form.
There will also be a drumming workshop Saturday afternoon, and both piping and drumming workshops on Sunday, from morning to afternoon, all led by our judges. Workshop topics are yet to be determined, but will include classes for both band and solo players.

We have the following three judges adjudicating our competition events this year:

Opening Ceremonies/ Massed Bands
If you are attending and are able to join us, please consider marching in the massed band during our opening ceremonies at noon. We hope to schedule a break in the competition events for our judges at that time as well.
